Hi friends -
We’re one week away from the “Table preseason” (as it relates to Sunday mornings in a public space) at Hayes Elementary School. I’m looking forward to exploring with some (many?) of you all what a church service can look like in a public space with the Lord’s Table at the center of it all. Again, Lord’s Table is where all our Tables come together to encounter God, share what God is at work doing at our Tables, and celebrate God making all things new - even us. For the updated FAQ’s on the Lord’s Table, please click here.
Family Table - Rocky River - Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) - 6 pm on Friday 3/1:
As always, it's a children's lesson with a guided prayer time with pizza and other food and beverages before and more chatting afterwards in the neighborhood. Please let me know if you're coming (if you are able to let me know) by noon on Friday for the pizza order at firstname.lastname@example.org and as always feel free to bring a side, dessert, and/or beverage to share.
Family Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland, OH) - 6:30 pm on Friday 3/1:
As always, it's a children's lesson with time to explore how to join God in his mission where we live work and play starting with a meal where you can bring something to share - but most importantly bring yourself. Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Friday at email@example.com.
Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood, OH - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:15 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 3/3:
Some of you all have said you’d like to help with set-up. This week only, we will be able to get into the school around 9 am. Anyone who would like to volunteer their elbow grease, please let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you’ll be coming by Saturday at noon (if possible). That way, if I find out we have specific needs along the way, I’ll know I can contact you.
I’m excited that we have this public gathering in a public space. I often use the language of “cross pollination” as it relates to our Family Tables and Community Tables coming together. I think we’ll be able to learn from each other and be encouraged by God through one another at the Lord’s Table.
For future events (including an Ash Wednesday service at Savor the Moment on 3/6), please go to our “Calendar of Events” page.
Finally (these announcements are getting long!), Laurie Pantelemon told me about a free app for Common Prayer. In Google Play it’s called “Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals” and was created by an organization called “The School for Conversion,” an organization committed to helping communities unlearn habits of social division. A resource I use for daily reading is called “Seeking God’s Face: Praying with the Bible through the Year.” I mention this because I think it would be cool and helpful if many of us could be reading the same passages and praying the same prayers throughout the year.
Okay, I’ve written enough. Let me end by saying may the Lord bless you all and be gracious to you all and may his face shine upon you all this week!
