Hi friends -
I’d like to declare this the year of the table. But I guess I do that every year. My kids always ask me why I immediately talk about tables when I talk about church. Well, this website is littered with the answer to that question.
I look forward to seeing friends and neighbors new and old this year. Specifically this week, here’s what’s happening:
Community Table - Rocky River - Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) - 6 pm on Friday 1/25:
Bring a main or a side or a beverage or a dessert and/or a friend. Please RSVP by noon on Friday if you can so we’ll get a general head count to email@example.com. This is for neighbors and friends who we consider neighbors for purposes of getting them a spot at the table. Just a pot-luck party.
Community Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland, OH) - 5:30 pm on Sunday 1/27:
Dinner starts at 6, but they’d love to see you early to chat, etc. Please bring a side or a beverage or a dessert and/or a friend. Please RSVP by noon on Sunday if you can so Steve and Destiny get a general head count to firstname.lastname@example.org. This is for neighbors and friends who they consider neighbors for purposes of getting them a spot at the table. Just a pot-luck party.
“PRESEASON” CHURCH AND SUPPORTING THE MISSION
For those who may have missed it, Renew Communities has agreed to be our sending church and they are providing more than 1/3 of our budget for 2019. It’s not a big budget when compared to traditional church plants, but it does contain costs associated with rental space and other costs. Since money is “the root of all kinds of evil,” I don’t like talking about it or asking for it. No person is immune to what money can do, so we as a church (which is made up of people!) want to be as transparent as possible with how we steward the resources (people and money) that God has given us. If you do want to give to the mission, please check out the link here. I’m not blowing smoke when I say that prayers and your presence at our gatherings are what we value most. That being said, we want to be sure to afford those who have asked the opportunity to give and to provide the rest with the opportunity to consider giving. Check out the link here for the 2019 budget. Always feel free to ask about any line items or the whole.
Speaking of rental space, we are looking to have preseason church starting in March so that all of our Tables can gather on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month for public worship. It’s real church, but we’re calling it preseason church to work out [some of] the kinks associated with launching a public service. We’re mainly looking at locations in Lakewood, so stay tuned, as it relates to our preseason launch in March and our regular season launch in September. Again, what we’ve been doing the last year and a half around tables has already been legit church in my sometimes humble opinion. What we’ll be doing at these gatherings won’t be fancy-schmancy, but we pray that these gatherings will be of great value in bringing glory to God and transformation to our lives. The link here provides some information about the Sunday gathering (Lord’s Table).
Y’all are the best!
