Weekly Announcements - Sunday Service (Lord's Table) at Hayes Elementary on 10/20

Hi friends,

We are experimenting at scheming at Table for the best ways to make our tables accessible to our friends and neighbors. One experiment we have tried was to switch Family Table to Sunday mornings. We’re rethinking that and NEED YOUR HELP.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE (!!!) complete the ONE MINUTE survey by clicking here.

Please note that Family Table Kamms’ Corners (Savor the Moment) is cancelled this week. Jim and Laurie get a pass on leading it this week. Jim’s successful knee replacement last week was a legitimate reason to cancel this week. 😉

LORD’S TABLE (SUNDAY SERVICE) – HAYES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LAKEWOOD (details here) SUNDAY 10/20 FROM 10:30 TO 11:45 AM
This is our twice monthly service to gather together to be reconciled to God (communion), renewed in God’s presence, and rub shoulders with each other as we pray and scheme together how we can best join God in spreading his righteousness, peace, and joy in our neighborhoods. Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit are key markers of God’s kingdom reign spreading into our neighborhoods. Our prayer time will be focusing on “grieving with those who grieve.” We want to lament loss of life and loss of justice in our country and our world. There are many events in the news that can be overwhelming, so we want to bring our grief, our anger, and our cries for justice to God.

It's at 10:30 am, but if you show up early, there will be delicious coffee and pastries. If you show up too early (i.e. 9 am) you may have the opportunity to serve by helping us set-up. 😉

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you this week, my friends.

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements 10/12 & 10/13 - Community Table & Family Tables

Hi friends,

My friend David Fitch said on Twitter this morning:

Today, we don't need a church that allows us to fit God into our lives. We need a church that shapes us to fit our lives into God's.

At Table, we certainly (!) haven’t arrived at this ideal – but this is what we are aiming toward in the rhythms of life and church we are striving - in God’s strength – toward. We don’t want – we need others to join us in this journey and are excited about the vision we believe God has given us. When I say that, I mean the things we believe to be true as revealed through a.) our God given and empowered talents and experiences, b.) the needs we see in our communities and world, and c.) how we see Jesus and his early church functioning in the Scriptures.

Now without further ado here are this week’s gatherings:

COMMUNITY TABLE: INTERNATIONAL FOOD NIGHT - ROCKY RIVER - BUEHRLE HOME ON SATURDAY 10/12 AT 6 PM (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) – MATTBURLY@GMAIL.COM

This Saturday, Matt Buehrle and the kids are having a gathering at their house where you can bring your favorite international food and/or international beverage.  Naomi and Anna are at a soccer tournament out of town. Only tell you this if you find her company better than Matt’s. ;) This is our regular monthly gathering for neighbors and friends (and friends we consider neighbors). If you can, please RSVP by noon on Saturday so we can get an idea of how many are coming.

WEST PARK FAMILY TABLE - STEVE & DESTINY HISEY’S HOME (3847 W 146 ST., CLEVELAND) - SUNDAY 10/13 FROM 10 AM TO NOON - STEVENDESTINY@GMAIL.COM

It’s a Bible lesson and discussion with children present with a guided prayer time followed by lunch, but starting with coffee and goodies and you can bring something to share for the lunch hour - but most importantly bring yourself. Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Saturday at stevendestiny@gmail.com for food planning purposes, etc. At Family Table, the Hiseys also practice the Table’s “Rhythm of R.E.N.E.W.

ROCKY RIVER FAMILY TABLE - MATT & NAOMI BUEHRLE’S HOME (19781 RIVERVIEW AVE., ROCKY RIVER) - SUNDAY 10/13 AT 10:30 AM - MATTBURLY@GMAIL.COM

It’s a Bible lesson and discussion with children present with a guided prayer time followed by lunch, but starting with coffee and goodies and you can bring something (food and/or beverage) to share for the lunch hour - but most importantly bring yourself. Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Saturday at mattburly@gmail.com for food planning purposes, etc. And you guessed it - at Family Table, the Buehrles also practice the Table’s “Rhythm of R.E.N.E.W.

Peace,

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements – Kamms Corners Family Table (10/1) & Lord’s Table (10/6)

Luke and Jim team up in fighting grime.

Luke and Jim team up in fighting grime.

Our first Serve Table was a success and enjoyable. Feels good to nearly literally rub shoulders (see the photo above - more photos at the bottom) with those you’re serving alongside. The 12 of us were able to put in 18 man (or is it “person”) hours to clean the racks, floors, and shelves.  It’s a lot cleaner now. It’ll be great to see how much more we can get done with a few more able bodied kids and adults next time. The next one isn’t scheduled, but keep your eyes and ears open to find out if we’re going to do another one sooner than later.

The following are this week’s table gatherings at Table Communities:

KAMMS CORNERS FAMILY TABLE (FORMERLY PRAYER TO ACTION ) - SAVOR THE MOMENT ON TUESDAY 10/1 FROM 6:30 - 7:30 PM - LAURIEFP6@GMAIL.COM

The Pantelemons are hosting their Family Table at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). This will be their only one this month, as Jim is having knee surgery this week. This Family Table is for tweens and above, as the shop isn’t kid friendly - or rather too-many-things-to-touch-and-break at the coffee shop isn’t friendly to the kids. At Family Table, the Pantelemons practice the Table’s “Rhythm of R.E.N.E.W.” If Sundays just don’t work for you for going to church, as I’ve said before - we have a secret for you. When the family of God gathers on a Tuesday - it’s just as much “church” as if they gathered on a Sunday.

LORD’S TABLE (SUNDAY SERVICE) – HAYES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LAKEWOOD (details here) SUNDAY 9/15 FROM 10:30 TO 11:45 AM
We’re going to be worshiping (or is it two “p’s”?) and sharing our vision for where we’re asking God to take us in the next 3-5 years. We’re glad to go wherever he takes us, but sometimes you have not when you ask not, you know?

It's at 10:30 am, but if you show up early, there will be delicious coffee and pastries.  If you show up too early (i.e. 9 am) you may have the opportunity to serve by helping us set-up. 😉

Weekly Announcement - SERVE TABLE SUNDAY at Common Threads (9/29)

Hi friends -

This announcement is later than I had hoped, but we needed to work out some logistics. We take the 5th Sunday of the month (9/29 - this Sunday at 10 am) to volunteer all together to do a practical service project for one of our ministry partners. In this instance, we'll be doing a deep clean of the space at “Common Threads: Thrift, Decor, and More” from 10 am to 11:30 am (if 9 am was in your head from a Facebook post - we changed the time). We want to be able to do a thorough job, so we're limiting the ages of kids to 8 and up. Unless your 8 year old (or 10 year old for that matter) will be less helpful that you and we may want.

Bring yourself in clothes you don’t mind getting a little bit dusty. We’re not dousing ourselves in grime, but we’ll work hard for that hour and a half. You bring yourself, we’ll bring some coffee and donuts.

And as you know, “being with children” and “extending family” are values we share, so please bring them to our house (the Buehrles - 19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) at noon afterward to share a pizza lunch together. Grab a side and/or beverage to share. We’d love to know by Saturday night if you plan to come to the SERVE TABLE (to include the lunch afterward) - but as always, just do a game time decision if you have to!

Common Threads is Building Hope in the City's first social enterprise to launch under HopeWorks, LLC. The store is located at 22049 Lorain Road in Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.

Common Threads now provides 18 people with permanent employment and training in customer service, inventory management and more.

When we come in and clean the space, we will be doing a job for them that doesn't fit into the regular schedule for employees during regularly scheduled hours.

Peace,

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements 9/14 (International Food Night) & 9/15 (OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF TABLE!)

COMMUNITY TABLE INTERNATIONAL FOOD NIGHT WITH INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS - ROCKY RIVER - BUEHRLE HOME ON SATURDAY 9/14 AT 6 PM (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River)
This Saturday, the Buehrles are having a gathering at their house where you can bring your favorite international food and/or international beverage.  After dinner, if you’d like to stay, some international students will be coming over for dessert.  Why can’t they come for dinner, too? There’s a group called International Friends who are planning a progressive dinner and we’re the dessert portion of the evening. If you can, please RSVP by noon on Saturday so we can get an idea of how many are coming.

PUBLIC LAUNCH OF TABLE COMMUNITIES (!) – HAYES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LAKEWOOD (details here) SUNDAY 9/15 FROM 10:30 TO 11:45 AM
You're being invited for any or all of the following reasons: 1.) we want you to celebrate with us, 2.) we want you to scope us out to possibly join us, 3.) we want you to join us. We believe God loves to extend his family - which is another name for the gathered church on mission together. So pull up a chair at our Lord's Table (what we call our Sunday services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month).

It's at 10:30 am, but if you show up early, there will be delicious coffee and pastries.  If you show up too early (i.e. 9 am) you may have the opportunity to serve by helping us set-up. 😉

———

Also, keep your eyes peeled for “Serve Table” on the 5th Sunday of this month (on the few occasions of the year when there is one). This is simply the opportunity to come alongside a Christian ministry in Cuyahoga County to do a very practical service project on the Sunday morning. Service is another way to worship. This month we’ll be doing a deep clean of Common Threads Thrift Store in Fairview Park from 9 am to 11 am. More details coming soon.

Have a great week and may the peace of the Lord Christ go with you!

Weekly Announcements 9/3 (Prayer Table) & 9/15 OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF TABLE!

Friends,

Quick reminder that the LAUNCH of Table Communities (details here) is quickly approaching, as our first FULLY PUBLIC service will be on Sunday, September 15th, 2019. Our weekly event this week is as follows:

WEST PARK PRAYER TO ACTION - SAVOR THE MOMENT ON TUESDAY 9/3 FROM 6:30 - 7:30 PM
The Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park. It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. I’m grateful that the prayers are focused and your time will be honored. Jim and Laurie like to get their beauty rest, so it ends promptly at 7:30 PM.

———

Another two opportunities, I’d like to make note of:

1.) We are planning to have what we call “Serve Table” on the 5th Sunday of the month (on the few occasions of the year when there is one). Details will be coming soon, but this is simply the opportunity to come alongside a Christian ministry in Cuyahoga County to do a very practical service project on the Sunday morning. Service is another way to worship. The Greek New Testament supports that ;)

2.) We are teaming up with our mother church Renew Communities for our Table Youth. See the details at the bottom of this page. As a church, Table Communities wants to keep our load light so that we can do the mission God has called us into. That’s why one of our values is “Embracing Simplicity.” You can find all of our values here. Renew has helped us to keep our load light by taking on administrative/accounting functions, keeping our insurance costs low, etc., and giving us lots of wisdom through some solid advice and care. We don’t take that lightly.

Peace,

Matt Buehrle, Table Guardian/Guide (i.e. church planter)

Weekly Announcements 8/20 (Prayer Table) & 8/23 (Community Table)

Friends,

Though the official LAUNCH of Table Communities (details here) is quickly approaching, as our first FULLY PUBLIC service will be on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, church (the family of God) is already happening in the following spaces this week:

WEST PARK PRAYER TO ACTION - SAVOR THE MOMENT ON TUESDAYS 8/20 FROM 6:30 - 7:30 PM

This Friday we're having a gathering at our house for dinner this Friday night starting at 6 pm. Please bring your favorite "summer side" -- think dessert or appetizer or salad and/or perhaps a beverage to pair with it.

COMMUNITY TABLE - ROCKY RIVER - BUEHRLE HOME ON FRIDAY 8/23 AT 6 PM ( 19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River)
This Friday the Buehrles are having a gathering at their house for dinner this Friday night starting at 6 pm. Please bring your favorite "summer side" -- think dessert or appetizer or salad and/or perhaps a beverage to pair with it.

They’d like to get a head count, but the RSVP doesn't have to be sooner than noon on Friday (8/23). And they’ll forgive you if you just show up.

This is for "library streets" neighbors - but if you know the Buehrles well - you know they'll let you in if you pretend you live in the neighborhood ;)

It's been too long since we've seen many of you!

Peace,

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements 8/18 "Taste of Table" - Lord's Table; Official Launch Coming!

Hi friends,

The official LAUNCH of Table Communities is quickly approaching. Our first FULLY PUBLIC service will be on Sunday, September 15th, 2019. Details here.

It feels good to be back in the groove. Back in the rhythm of opening our Tables to all who need to pull up a chair. Whether any of the rest of y'all need a space to find a chair at the table, I know I do. I need to pull up a chair and see all y'all whether at Lord's Table (Sunday services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month), Family Table (what will now be our home based Sunday gatherings on 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month for a children's lesson and prayer time - and food and beverage, of course), or Community Table (good old fashioned neighborhood gatherings).

This Sunday (8/18), we're gathering at Hayes Elementary in Lakewood at 10:30 am for our final preview service (i.e. preseason church service). So, come on out and check it out and taste and see that Jesus is good. Details here.

Peace!

Matt Buehrle, Table Guardian and Planter

"Taste of Table" at Renew Communities; Book review of "The Church of Us vs. Them"

TASTE OF TABLE @ RENEW COMMUNITIES ON SUNDAY 7/21 - SERVICE TIMES ARE 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM We are grateful for the opportunity to run our typical Table Sunday service (Lord’s Table) in Renew’s space to give the congregation down in Berea the opportunity to get a feel for the way we run a service and to get more formally introduced to what we’re doing here at Table. This is a way to get a sneak peek before our September launch! There are two services to choose from (9:30 am & 11:15 am)

And now, Matt Buehrle's review of "The Church of Us vs. Them: Freedom from a Faith that Feeds on Making Enemies:"

Jesus said, "they will know you are Christians by the way you display animosity toward one another." Yes, that's how it seems like the church [at least in America] thrives. Not living for the King and his kingdom, but against "them."

David Fitch, as he has been doing for years now in books like "The End of Evangelicalism?" "Faithful Presence," and "The Prodigal Church" is calling the church back to thriving in God's presence and inviting others to do the same rather than expending energy fighting "the other." If you've read all of the books I listed, you still need to get your hands on "The Church of Us vs. Them" for a few reasons:

1. This book combines all three of his most recent books with more illustrations of how to get past just living the "us vs. them" antagonisms

2. This book is more accessible and practical than his prior books (especially "The End of Evangelicalism?" - which I loved by the way), which makes it a great book to read with others and a great book to give to others.

3.) This book is full of faith and hope. It seems that Fitch actually trusts that God will show up as people sit across the table from one another - trusting that God will be in their midst. I was moved by the fact that Fitch's critique of current Christian culture in America moved beyond critique and academic assessment and into a call to faith and hope that God will be present as we work through our antagonisms.

I can't overstate how important it was to me that faith and hope were oozing out of this book. I'm planning to give it to the core team of our church plant and will definitely have it available on our table for sale at our church gatherings.

“The Church of Us vs. Them” releases on 7/16 and is available for pre-order on Amazon here.

Special Announcement (gatherings through July)

Hi all!

Summertime brings down time for many. I hope this down time is a good time for up time - reflection and renewal. Because I (Matt) am going to be in and out of town through July and into the first week of August, I figured I could give you an update here of which gatherings are happening through July with a sneak peek to August.

COMMUNITY TABLE - WEST PARK - HISEY HOME ON SUNDAY 6/30 FROM 3-5 PM ( 3847 W 146 St. Cleveland) The Hiseys will be hosting a root beer float party. Delicious. I’ll be there.

WEST PARK PRAYER TO ACTION - SAVOR THE MOMENT ON TUESDAYS 7/2 & 7/16 FROM 6:30 - 7:30 PM
The Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. As I’ve said many a time: I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place.

In addition keep your eyes peeled for additional gatherings. I’m sure the Hiseys will be gathering in West Park more this summer and we (the Buehrles) will have a couple more cookouts. I’ll add the updates to this post.

Finally, please mark your calendars for two dates in particular: Sunday, August 18th is our final “preseason” Lord’s Table (Sunday service) gathering. Sunday, September 15th is our official “launch” date for Table as a fully functioning church. We’ll still be connected to Renew, as they continue to support us in many ways.

Peace my friends!

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements for Tuesday, 6/18 (tonight)

West Park Prayer to Action - Savor the Moment - 6:30 - 7:30 pm on Tuesday 6/18:

Over in West Park the Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. As I’ve said many a time: I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place.

Weekly Announcement (singular) for Sunday 6/2 - Last "Preseason" Lord's Table

Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:30 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 6/2:

Hi all!

Well, we’ve almost made it through our preseason of Sunday church gatherings. It will be 9 gatherings in total.

We are very interested in your participation if you’ve not come to one of these. We want you to get a feel for what they’re like and we want your input. For those who help with set-up, we will be able to get into the school around 9 am.

As I’ve said many times, it’s been fun to see how our “liturgical” format can leave so much space for participation. We want Table to be a space where “everyone plays” and “nobody is picked last” (and I know how that feels). As I’ve said before, it’s not the kind of participation that singles people out.

After the service (around 12:45) we’ll have a pizza lunch at our house - the Buehrles (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River, OH) to celebrate the end of “preseason” Sunday gatherings and to look forward to the formal launch of our Sunday gatherings in September.

Peace my friends,

Matt Buehrle

Weekly Announcements for Tuesday 5/21 & Sunday 5/26

West Park Prayer to Action - Savor the Moment - 6:30 - 7:30 pm on Tuesday 5/21:

Over in West Park the Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. As I’ve said many a time: I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place.

Community Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland, OH) - 5:30 pm on Sunday 2/24:

Dinner starts at 6, but they’d love to see you early to chat, etc. Please bring a side or a beverage or a dessert and/or a friend. Please RSVP by noon on Sunday if you can so Steve and Destiny get a general head count to stevendestiny@gmail.com. This is for neighbors and friends who they consider neighbors for purposes of getting them a spot at the table. Basically a pot-luck party.

Weekly Announcements - Friday 5/17 & Sunday 5/19

Hi friends,

This week (spilling into Sunday) we have two formal gatherings. The Family Table in Rocky River is CANCELLED this week because - well - we’ve got too much going on :) … but the gathering at the Hisey home in West Park is still happening.

Also, please note that we have TWO LORD’S TABLE GATHERINGS LEFT THIS SPRING. Why am I writing this in ALL CAPS? Well, because if you’d like to get a TASTE of how our Sunday rhythms will be when we launch in the fall - this is a good time to check it out. I think we’ve got something special going on - that’s why I’d love for you to get a TASTE OF TABLE.

Family Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland) - 6:30 pm on Friday 5/17:

As always, it's a children's lesson with with a guided prayer time with pizza and other food and beverages before and more chatting afterwards in the neighborhood starting with a meal where you can bring something to share - but most importantly bring yourself.  Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Friday at stevendestiny@gmail.com. Come and hang out!

Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:30 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 5/19:

Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. Some of you all have said you’d like to help with set-up. We will be able to get into the school around 9 am. Anyone who would like to volunteer their elbow grease, please show up.

As we continue to explore what Lord’s Table (Sunday service) can and should look like for us, I think we’ll be able to learn from each other and be encouraged by God through one another at the Lord’s Table. Like I said last time, it’s been fun to see how our “liturgical” format can leave so much space for participation. Not the kind of participation that singles people out. During these gatherings we not only celebrate God’s goodness, but also practice lament through the Psalms we read and the prayers we pray. We don’t gather to escape reality, but to bring ourselves and our concerns to God.

For future events, please go to our “Calendar of Events” page.

Weekly Announcements for 5/7 & 5/10 - Community Tables!

Hi friends,

1/2 of our two gatherings this week have a special theme - but both gatherings are special and important.

West Park Prayer to Action - Savor the Moment - 6:30 - 7:30 pm on Tuesday 5/7:

Over in West Park the Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place (and the people who own it).  The prepositional phrase “to Action” means that they expect God to answer their prayers. And he does, he has, and he will.

International Food Night Belated Cinco de Mayo Edition - Rocky River - Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) - 6 pm on Friday 5/10:

Bring a Mexican variety main or a side or a beverage or a dessert and/or a friend (your friends are our friends). If you’re feeling rebellious, bring something that isn’t related to the Cinco de Mayo party theme. Please RSVP by noon on Friday if you can so we’ll get a general head count to mattburly@gmail.com. This is for neighbors and friends who we consider neighbors for purposes of getting them a spot at the table.

Also, on Friday evening and Sunday morning, we prayed for the ministry of Safe Families for Children. To donate on a regular basis or as a one time gift, please go here.

Peace!

Matt

Weekly Announcements - 5/3 (Friday) & 5/5 (Sunday)

Hi friends -

What we do at Table is to aim at Biblical hospitality. I was reading a section in “Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals” yesterday and found this to be a target to aim toward: “Not only were the early Christians to practice hospitality; they were to depend on it. There was no ‘us’ and ‘them.’ ‘My’ became a cussword for Christians. My house is no longer mine but is God’s, which means it is open to all.” The following are some of the spaces where we aim toward this vision.

Family Table - Rocky River - Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) - 6 pm on Friday 5/3:

As always, it's a children's lesson with a guided prayer time with pizza and other food and beverages before and more chatting afterwards in the neighborhood.  Please let me know if you're coming (if you are able to let me know) by noon on Friday for the pizza order at mattburly@gmail.com and as always feel free to bring a side, dessert, and/or beverage to share. There will be one meatless pizza. Also, just so you’re aware, the lesson and prayer time are almost always from 7:15 to 8:00 pm. If you can’t make it during that time, always feel free to drop in before or after that time. The evening consists of more than the meeting time!

Family Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland) - 6:30 pm on Friday 5/3:

As always, it's a children's lesson with with a guided prayer time with pizza and other food and beverages before and more chatting afterwards in the neighborhood starting with a meal where you can bring something to share - but most importantly bring yourself.  Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Friday at stevendestiny@gmail.com. Just like the River Family Table, the evening consists of more than the meeting time.

Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:30 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 5/5:

Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. Some of you all have said you’d like to help with set-up. We will be able to get into the school around 9 am. Anyone who would like to volunteer their elbow grease, please show up.

As we continue to explore what Lord’s Table (Sunday service) can and should look like for us, I think we’ll be able to learn from each other and be encouraged by God through one another at the Lord’s Table. If you’ve not come to Lord’s Table, I happen to think you’re missing out because I’ve enjoyed our format so much. It’s been fun to see how our “liturgical” format can leave so much space for participation from all! Not the kind of participation that singles people out. It’s also been exciting to hear God at work in weaving together the same themes from the Scriptures, testimony time, etc. What am I talking about? Guess you’ll have to come and see. During these gatherings we not only celebrate God’s goodness, but also practice lament through the Psalms we read and the prayers we pray. We don’t gather to escape reality, but to bring ourselves and our concerns to God.

For future events, please go to our “Calendar of Events” page.

Weekly Announcement - 4/16 (Tuesday); 4/19 (Good Friday); and 4/21 (Easter Sunday)

Hi friends -

Lent is coming to a close and resurrection season begins on Sunday. If you’re actively observing Lent, I hope you don’t rush through this week.

West Park Prayer to Action - Savor the Moment - 6:30 - 7:30 pm on Tuesday 4/16:
Over in West Park the Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place (and the people who own it).  The prepositional phrase “to Action” means that they expect God to answer their prayers. And he does, he has, and he will. I’m not talking about spectacular things [necessarily]. I’m talking about sometimes being the answer to our own prayers.

Good Friday Service - Savor the Moment - 7:00 - 7:45 pm on Friday 4/19:
Again in West Park we are having an “uplugged” (guitar, Scripture reading, prayer) good Friday service. It will be a solemn and hopefully meaningful time for all. We’ll be setting up the chairs and tables in the shop to have our service. Because it’s a solemn and at times silent time, we will welcome all children who are able to participate.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive).

This is in place of our Family Table gatherings.

Easter Sunday Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood, OH - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:30 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 4/:21:

We don’t have a huge crowd at this gathering, but some have described the feel of our service as highly participatory, simple, and meaningful. Participatory, because it doesn’t feel like a performance - everyone “plays” without being singled out in doing so. Though we still consider this “preseason” or “soft open” church, real church community and worship happens in this space. Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. Some of you all have said you’d like to help with set-up. We will be able to get into the school around 9 am. Anyone who would like to volunteer their elbow grease, please show up.

Finally, there will be an Easter brunch at 12:30 pm at the Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave., Rocky River, OH) following the service. If I know my wife (and I’m pretty sure I do) there will be something fun for kids. Probably not a helicopter hovering over our house dropping eggs, but something fun nevertheless.

Weekly Announcements 4/2 (Tuesday), 4/5 (Friday), and 4/7 (Sunday)

Hi friends -

There are no formal Tables this weekend. Next week we have four Tables:

West Park Prayer to Action - Savor the Moment - 6:30 - 7:30 pm on Tuesday 4/2:
Over in West Park the Pantelemons are hosting a prayer time for anybody who wants to pray that the blessings of God's kingdom would be evident in West Park.  It takes place at the coffee shop (Savor the Moment on Rocky River Drive). There WILL be prayer, there MIGHT be coffee. I may not live in West Park, but I’m fond of that place (and the people who own it).

Family Table - Rocky River - Buehrle home (19781 Riverview Ave, Rocky River) - 6 pm on Friday 4/5:

Family Table - West Park - Hisey home (3847 W 146 St., Cleveland, OH) - 6:30 pm on Friday 4/5:

As always, it's a children's lesson with time to explore how to join God in his mission where we live work and play starting with a meal where you can bring something to share - but most importantly bring yourself.  Please let them know if you're coming (if you are able to let them know) by noon on Friday at stevendestiny@gmail.com.

Lord’s Table - Lakewood - Hayes Elementary School (16401 Deleware Ave., Lakewood, OH - parking in the lot off of Olive Ave. coming from the North) - 10:30 am to 11:45 am on Sunday, 4/7:

Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. Some of you all have said you’d like to help with set-up. We will be able to get into the school around 9 am. Anyone who would like to volunteer their elbow grease, please show up.

As we continue to explore what Lord’s Table (Sunday service) can and should look like for us, I think we’ll be able to learn from each other and be encouraged by God through one another at the Lord’s Table.

For future events, please go to our “Calendar of Events” page.

Remember this week what I mentioned a couple weeks ago: the Lord is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
